This year our high school students competed, once again, in the essay contest organized by the Woman’s Auxiliary to the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers Inc., WAIIME.
In this essay contest an element of the periodic chart is selected and students are to write an essay about the impact it has the world in present times. The element selected this year was Silicon.
This year we are happy to announce that 3 students from our high school occupied the first 3 places in this contest.
In 3rd place Ms. Olga Valeria Moreno with her essay entitled “Silicon”.
In 2nd place Mr. Gerardo Martínez de la Cueva and his essay entitled “Silicon, the element that saves and ends lives”.
In 1st place Ms. Jessica Bibiana Rodríguez Benítez and her essay entitled “Silicon, how an element of the periodic table has more history than we think.”
This morning these students were recognized for their accomplishment and received an economic prize from WAIIME.
This is just one of the many efforts Pereyra thrives on in the development of English language skills as well as the advancement in the field of STEM.
